CPL Luigi Marciante, Jr.
KIA 20 Sep 2007
United States Army Corporal Luigi Marciante Jr., 25, of
Elizabeth, N.J., was killed in action in Muqdadiyah, Iraq, on
Sept. 20, 2007. Louie, as he was affectionately known to his
family and loved ones, was born November 10, 1981. He was a
beloved husband, father, son, and hero to all who knew him.
He was renowned and cherished for his love of life, sense of
humor and uncanny ability to bring happiness to every life he
touched. Physically gone but not forgotten, our lives are
richer having known him, and his presence will sustain us
forever, not only in our hearts but in the eyes of his son.
Louie is survived by wife, Stephanie (Busby) Marciante, and his
newborn son, Lorenzo, parents, Maria and Luigi Marciante,
two brothers and one sister, Accursio and his wife, Maria,
Ronnie and his wife, Renee and Enza and her husband, Rich.
Louie, you know that on a daily basis people celebrate your
life and honor your memory, you need to know how
extraordinarily proud of you we are, and the man you have
become. Choosing the Army to start your career was your
thing and you did it all on your own. It is from that decision
we know of your true courage, heroism, strength, honor,
integrity, and unwavering love and loyalty. You are admired
far more than you will ever know. You have touched so many
lives, and we are all better people for having had you here, no
matter how abbreviated your time physically on Earth was.
Thank you for your love, humor, and passion. Thank you for
your ultimate sacrifice. But most of all, thank you for making
a difference. We will all miss you. The world is forever
changed, and you are forever loved. You did it, Louie. You
owned it, and we’re proud. Go rest, and we’ll see you again
someday. We love you.
I WAS THAT, WHICH OTHERS DID NOT WANT TO BE,
I WENT WHERE OTHERS FEARED TO GO,
AND DID WHAT OTHERS FAILED TO DO,
I ASK NOTHING OF THOSE WHO DID NOTHING AND
RELUCTANTLY ACCEPTED THE THOUGHT OF ETERNAL
LONELINESS SHOULD I FAIL.
I HAVE SEEN THE FACE OF TERROR; FELT THE STINGING COLD OF FEAR
AND ENJOYED THE SWEET TASTE OF A MOMENT'S LOVE,
I HAVE CRIED, PAINED AND HOPED.... BUT MOST OF ALL, I HAVE LIVED
TIMES OTHERS WOULD SAY WERE BEST FORGOTTEN.
AT LEAST SOMEDAY I WILL BE ABLE TO SAY THAT I WAS PROUD OF
WHAT I WAS "A SOLDIER"
